Your first drive on Curaçao
Curaçao is about 60 km long, so no hotel is more than an hour from the airport. Here are realistic drive times from Hato, the road rules to know, and which car fits your plans.

| Destination | Area | Approximate drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Piscadera hotels | West of Willemstad | 15 to 20 minutes |
| Willemstad, Otrobanda and Punda | City center | 15 to 25 minutes |
| Mambo Beach and Seaquarium | East of Willemstad | 20 to 30 minutes |
| Jan Thiel | Southeast coast | 25 to 35 minutes |
| Cas Abao and the west coast beaches | West | 30 to 40 minutes |
| Santa Barbara estate | Far southeast | 35 to 45 minutes |
| Westpunt and Grote Knip | Northwest tip | 40 to 50 minutes |
Outside rush hour. Around Willemstad, allow extra time between 7:00 and 8:30 and between 16:30 and 18:00.
Parking is free at most beaches and attractions. In central Willemstad you pay at street meters or in parking lots. Gas stations are plentiful around the city and fewer on the west side, so fill up before a day at the western beaches.

Enough for couples and city driving. The main roads to Willemstad, Jan Thiel, Cas Abao and Grote Knip are paved.
Worth it for families with luggage and for the smaller bays in the west, where the last few hundred meters can be unpaved and bumpy.
For groups of five or more, or families with dive gear and car seats. Minivans sell out first in high season, so book early.
Download offline maps before you leave the airport. Mobile signal drops in parts of the west, often right where you need to turn.
