Yes. International chains have desks in the arrivals hall, and local rental companies meet you in arrivals or take you to an office close by. Booking ahead secures a better price and a car, especially from December to April.
Most local companies set the minimum age at 21. Some require 23 or 25 for SUVs and larger cars. Drivers under 25 often pay a young driver fee, usually $5 to $15 per day.
Usually not. A valid driver's license from the US, Canada, the UK or the EU is accepted by most rental companies.
At the chain desks you need a credit card in the driver's name. Some local companies accept a debit card or a cash deposit instead. Each listing in the search shows which payment it accepts for the deposit.
Third-party liability insurance is required by law on Curaçao. Every rate in the TropicDrive search includes it, together with a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and taxes. CDW limits what you pay for damage to the car to a deductible.
An economy car from a local company starts at about $25 to $35 per day. Chain desks at the airport start at about $50 to $70 per day. Christmas, New Year and Carnival usually run 30 to 60% higher.
Yes. Every foreign visitor must complete the free Digital Immigration Card within 7 days before departure on the official portal, dicardcuracao.com.

The Caribbean guilder (XCG), which replaced the Netherlands Antillean guilder in 2025. It is pegged at 1.79 guilders per US dollar, and US dollars are widely accepted.

Bookings made through TropicDrive can be cancelled for free up to 48 hours before pickup. If you cancel later, only the small reservation fee is kept.
Yes. The main roads are paved and signposted, and traffic is calm outside rush hour. Watch for goats and potholes on rural roads, slow down at roundabouts, and never leave bags or valuables visible in a parked car.
Curaçao drives on the right, the same as the US, Canada and the Netherlands. Speed limits are 40 km/h in town and 60 to 80 km/h outside built-up areas.
Most visitors do. The best beaches on the west coast are 40 to 50 minutes from the airport, buses run infrequently, and taxis charge per ride. A rental car often costs less than taxis once you make more than two or three trips.
Plan to arrive 3 hours before an international flight, and add 30 minutes if you still need to return a rental car.
